More Information
Re-Worked will showcase the selected winners and entrants of a competition to raise awareness of sustainability through art. Run by the Gallery in conjunction with the Welsh School of Architecture and the Vale of Glamorgan Council Waste Management Department, entrants have been sought from all over the UK and will show a wide range of artworks created entirely from recycled materials as part of the Cardiff 2012 celebrations.
This European co-production is inspired by the real-life incident that occurred on Christmas Eve 1914, at various locations along the frontline. Through the eyes of four principal characters – a French lieutenant, a Scottish minister, a German tenor and his girlfriend, a Danish soprano – the film relates the extraordinary occasions where national loyalties and political differences were put aside in the name of Christmas. Putting down their weapons, soldiers from all sides came together to share wine and food, exchange photographs and memories, and play a game of football in the snow.
